Figure 4. EMSA of the purified bMBD2/3. bMBD2/3 was examined for the ability to bind to methylated or unmethylated DNA. Binding reactions were performed as described in Materials and Methods. Lanes 1–4 of each gel contain radiolabelled, methylated DNA as a probe and lanes 5–6 contain radiolabelled unmethylated DNA. For each gel, lanes 1 and 5 contain only the probe without any added protein. Lanes 2 and 6 contain 50 ng of protein. Binding was competed with methylated DNA (lane 3) or unmethylated DNA (lane 4) as competitors.
